The University of Malaya is considered the oldest university established in Malaysia. It is a multidisciplinary research university. It was established in the capital, Kuala Lumpur, in 1959, but it has a long history in the field of educational services dating back to 1905. The University of Malaya took “Leadership in Research and Innovation” as its motto, and it successfully produced a bright and distinguished elite of famous intellectuals and leadership cadres such as presidents and members of the Council of Ministers, senior civil servants, diplomats, and leaders in industries. Since it was granted the title of research university in 2006, the University of Malaya’s research has been at the forefront of pioneering research in Malaysia.
