The University of Massachusetts at Lowell, or what is known as UMass Lowell, is one of the five universities of the Massachusetts system, and the largest university in the Merrimack Basin region. The university was previously named the University of Lowell, and it was formed from the merger of Lowell Technical Institute and Lowell State College in 1975. It is located in the city of Lowell in the American state of Massachusetts.
